Certification of italian as a foreign language

Sicilia Italian Language School is an examination center for CELI language certifications awarded to foreigners who wish to validate their knowledge of the Italian language through an internationally recognized certificate.

The CELI (for non - specific use) are certificates of general italian language knowledges aimed to the educated adults.

These certificates, which can be used at work and study, attest to the skills and abilities in the use of the Italian language and refer to the learning objectives specified within the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) of the Council of Europe and divided into six levels by him, from A1 to C2.

Based on the CEFR scale, also the CELI are divided into six exam levels, as it's written below:

CELI A (Adolescent)
CELI impact - (Level A1 of the CEFR)
CELI 1 (Level A2 of the CEFR)
CELI 2 (Level B1 of the CEFR)
CELI 3 (Level B2 of the CEFR)
CELI 4 (Level C1 of the CEFR)
CELI 5 (Level C2 of the CEFR)

CELI certificates have the European quality mark (Q Mark) issued by ALTE (Association of Language Testers in Europe), achieved after the passing of specific audit procedures.

The Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR) recognizes the CELI 3 as a certificate of italian language knowledges valid for the purposes of enrollment at the University in Italy in the quota that each university allocates to non-Italian-speaking enrollees.

In the same academic field, CELI 4 and CELI 5 are valid qualifications to certify knowledge of the Italian language on equal terms with Italian-speaking students.
