Small Cooking Dictionary!
IS IT CALLED ARANCINA OR ARANCINU?
It matters little…it's delicious!
We know for a fact that this specialty is a fried golden ball with rice and various seasonings inside: meat, butter, vegetables ... and in the last few years, the sweet arancina with Nutella and chocolate has spread.
In some parts of Sicily, such as Catania, Agrigento and other cities they call it ARANCINU, while in Palermo it is ARANCINA.
The origins of the arancina are not very clear and detailed historically, but it is certain that around 1857 it spreads in Honor of the Celebrations of Santa Lucia. It is celebrated on December 13 every year.
It begins with being only sweet and later turns into salty in various flavors and shapes, the traditional one is the round one with meat and pea ragout.
Today the arancina together with Panella, another Sicilian specialty, are the protagonists of Sicilian street foods.
Therefore, we advise you to travel to Sicily, to taste this amazing delicacy and at the same time try an Italian course together with a cooking course to learn how to make our ARANCINAS.
